KR808 Evolution- welcome to 2011.

510 users never understood the lowly KR808, they just can't understand why anyone would want an automatic. Who can blame them? After my first dismal experience with the magma automatic from Volcano, a 510 clone, I knew right away where the misunderstanding was coming from. The 510 is a great unit, but the smaller versions lack the battery life most users need and the automatics just suck...or rather you have to suck to use them, a lot.

So while the 510 was evolving into the Fat battery, button pushing device that is the Ego, and all its various clones, the KR808 quietly kept doing what it did best, providing a decent vaping experience in a small package. However it is 2011 and its time for the Revenge of the KR808.

It all started with a cartomizer in a land far far away....

Nhaler actually brought over the first cartomizer in the new style that I know about, however it was Bloog who would make it into a showpiece of its new KR808 style product, The Maxxfusion. While we might not exactly be amazed at whoever comes up with names at Bloog (let me guess the next product is the Ultramaxxfusion) there was so denying the product has gotten a large following in the past couple of months. Largely driven by user reviews

The cartomizer functions at a 2.4-2.6 ohm area, but remember KR808's are 3.7 volt devices, true 3.7 thank you very much, as such these have the same total wattage as a 2.0 ohm boge cartomizer on an Ego style battery, a favorite for this Kobold. They also have a more involved internal structure that is suppose to prevent burning, however this has proven hit or miss...just keep this off your 5volt device and you should be fine.

The PCC strikes back
(nhaler PCC below)

Still, it doesn't matter how good the Cartomizer works if your battery is dead. Luckily something most ego users never knew about, or long ago threw away, has also reared its head recently as well. Improved Personal Charging Case (PCC) for the KR808, looking like an Iphone got lost at an ecig company the new PCC's have a certain geek appeal that the older bulky models could never compete with

Now KR808s, compared to mini 510's, already have better battery life 280mah vs 180mah for the 510. But with a PCC you can always keep one of your devices charging while you go about your busy day of attempting to conquer the world. The appeal of this is you can still hold a normal size device in your hand while having the bulk of your power in you pants...you back pocket to be exact. The larger PCC at the top of the page from Nhaler also has room for all the cartomizers you could possibly use in a day.

The Automatic has returned to confront the vile button

Mind you all of the above is nice, but one feature that the newest KR808's have is an improved automatic swtich, already the best automatic in this Kobold's opinion an improvement on the switch just makes good things even better. Compared to many automatics the KR808 was already king but now it seeks to go out and become Emperor. Less sucking more vaping should be the phrase of the day, for those people who want to emulate smoking while still vaping this is one of the goals, of course plenty of us don't mind buttons and do not see the big deal.....but for who feel icky at the thought of having to push a button to get nicotine, this is a gift from above

Overall the new KR808's keep a viable platform competitive going into 2011, they work better than before and may in fact inspire a new group of smokers to swap over. Even if you are a giant 18650 mah user I am sure you will agree these might be less shocking to pull out on a first date than your pipe bomb tube mod.
